A petition with over 6000 signatures to get a new recycling centre in Congleton was handed over today to Cheshire East Council, outside their Sandbach offices.
This is another chapter in the battle to get Congleton a new Recycling Centre. Most Congleton political parties have been working in tandem to ensure that Congleton has the recycling centre it needs for the town of its size.
The Lib Dems, The Green Party, The Women's Equality Party, The Congleton Independents and even Environmentalists like the Congleton Climate Action Group have all been involved in working towards this goal.
On the day we spoke to Councillor Robert Douglas and Suzy Firkin from the Lib Dems and Green Party member Olga Whitmore. We were informed that WEP Councillor Kay Wesley had been stranded in London due to Rail and coach strikes, so sadly she was unable to attend but gives her full support has she already has been doing throughout this campaign.
The petition was handed over to Councillor Suzy Akers Smith by Lesley Turner.
We will be posting interviews and videos shortly.
